About Us

What Social Bookmarking Online is

Social Bookmarking Online is a free, text-only social bookmarking platform. Members save, organise and share links to genuinely useful web pages, and everyone can browse what the community has found — without creating an account, without an app, and without uploading images.

In short: it is a public directory of links that real people have recommended, sorted by category and ranked by votes.

Why we built it

The web has no shortage of links. What it has no shortage of is noise — dead pages, spam, misleading titles and empty link dumps. A plain browser bookmark list is private and invisible. A social bookmarking site does the opposite: it is public, moderated, and organised by topic, so that a useful article stays findable long after you found it.

We built this site on three principles, and every feature decision follows from them:

  • Text only. No image uploads, no video, no galleries. This keeps the site fast, cheap to host, and usable on slow mobile connections and in low-bandwidth regions.
  • One link, one entry. Duplicate URLs are rejected automatically. A link is submitted once and belongs to one person.
  • Moderated by humans. Every submission is reviewed before it goes live. We would rather show fewer links than show rubbish.

How it works

  1. Submit a URL. You enter the address of the page you want to share. We read the page and pre-fill its title and description for you.
  2. Check and confirm. You edit the title if it is wrong, add a short description, pick a category, and add up to five tags.
  3. Moderation. Depending on the current moderation setting, your submission is either published immediately or held in a review queue.
  4. Published and discoverable. The link appears in its category, in Latest, Popular and Trending, in our RSS feed, and in the sitemap. Anyone can find it without an account.
  5. Community curation. Members vote links up or down and leave comments. The community decides what rises.

What you can do here

  • Submit a link — free for everyone with an account.
  • Vote — one vote per member per link, and you can change it at any time.
  • Comment — discuss a link, correct its description, or warn others about it.
  • Save to favorites — keep a private list of the links you want to come back to.
  • Follow your own bookmarks — every member has a public profile page showing everything they have submitted.
  • Browse by category and tag — ten categories and unlimited tags, plus search across titles, descriptions and domains.
  • Follow by RSS — every new submission is available in the feed.

Categories

Links are sorted into one of ten categories so that browsing stays useful: News, Business, Technology, Health, Education, Travel, Finance, Marketing & SEO, Lifestyle, and Entertainment. You can also browse by tag, which lets a link sit in more than one conceptual bucket.

What we will not accept

We do not accept, and we remove:

  • Spam, link farms, automated or bulk submissions, and SEO manipulative link schemes.
  • Pornographic or adult content.
  • Illegal content, or pages that distribute malware, cracked software, or drugs.
  • Misleading titles and descriptions that do not match the destination page.
  • Pages that exist only to redirect, only to show ads, or only to collect personal data.
  • Any link to a domain that appears on our blocked-domain list.
  • Duplicate submissions of a URL that is already on the site.

About advertising

The site is free to use. We are supported by advertising, which is kept outside the link list itself so that it never interferes with browsing. We do not accept paid placements inside bookmarks, and advertising has no influence on whether a link is approved.

Who owns what

You keep ownership of the links you submit and of the text you write. You grant us permission to display that content on this site and in its public feeds so it can be found. We own the site's design, layout, and branding.
