Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, submitting a link, or otherwise using Social Bookmarking Online, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the site. If you use the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which you can independently consent to data processing in your country.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep it accurate.
  • One account per person. Shared, sold or automated accounts are not permitted.
  • Banned accounts are permanently closed and may not be re-registered.

3. Accounts and security

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, and for keeping your password confidential. Notify us immediately at contact@socialbookmarkingonline.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend an account that appears compromised, as a safety measure.

4. What you may submit

You may only submit links to pages that you have personally viewed and that you have the right to share. Specifically, you must not submit:

  • Pornographic, sexually explicit, or otherwise adult content.
  • Content that is illegal, or that promotes illegal activity.
  • Malware, viruses, spyware, phishing pages, or pages that distribute cracked or pirated software.
  • Spam, link farms, cloaking, doorway pages, or automated bulk submissions.
  • Misleading titles, keyword stuffing, or descriptions that do not match the destination.
  • Pages whose only purpose is to redirect, to serve intrusive ads, or to harvest personal data.
  • Content belonging to another person where you have no permission to share it.
  • Anything on our blocked word or blocked domain list.
  • Duplicate submissions of a URL already present on the site.

Titles must be at least 10 and at most 150 characters, in normal capitalisation, not entirely in capital letters. Descriptions must be 50 to 300 characters. Up to five tags may be added per link.

5. Moderation and removal

Every submission is subject to moderation. We may approve, reject, edit, hide or remove any link, comment or account at our discretion, and at any time, with or without notice. Where a submission is held for review, you will see it as pending until a moderator acts on it.

We also operate automatic filters that check submissions against blocked word and blocked domain lists, duplicate detection, and link scheme rules. Passing the filters does not guarantee approval.

6. Categories and daily limits

Administrators may set a maximum number of links a member may submit per day, either overall or per category, and may change these limits at any time. Exceeding a limit results in rejection of the submission, not a penalty to your account. Exists also a maximum number of links per domain.

7. Content ownership and licence

You keep ownership of everything you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content on this site and in its public feeds (RSS, sitemap), for the purpose of operating and promoting the directory.

This licence ends for a given link when that link is removed from the site. It does not transfer ownership to us.

8. Comments and community conduct

Comments must be relevant, respectful and factual. Harassment, insults, hate speech, threats, spam and deliberate misinformation are not permitted. Comments may be held for approval, edited, or removed. Repeated violations may result in suspension or permanent ban.

9. Voting and manipulation

Votes are recorded per member per link. Creating accounts to manipulate rankings, using automated voting, or coordinating vote rings is prohibited and may result in removal of the votes and a ban.

10. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, or other users' accounts.
  • Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the system without our written permission, or interfere with its operation.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl or harvest the site in breach of our robots rules.
  • Copy, mirror or scrape the site's content or design in bulk to build a competing service.
  • Impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Use the site to distribute anything unlawful.

11. Third-party links

The site links to pages controlled by other people. We do not own, review, endorse or control those pages. Your visit to a third-party site is governed by that site's own terms and privacy policy, not by these terms. If a linked page turns out to be harmful, report it to us and we will review it.

12. Advertising

The site may display advertising. We do not accept payment in exchange for approving a link, and advertising placement does not influence editorial decisions or moderation. Advertisement is not a guarantee that a linked product or service is endorsed by us.

13. Availability and changes

We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, or that any link will remain permanently published. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. Links may be automatically removed under the retention settings configured by the administrator.

14. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for any loss of data, profits, goodwill or reputation, arising from your use of the site or from any link published here. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us (which is zero) or the minimum permitted by law.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the site operator and its team against any claim, demand, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your submissions, your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

16. Termination

You may stop using the site and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if you materially breach these terms, in particular by submitting unlawful content, spamming, or attacking the site. On termination your public profile is removed and your submissions are unpublished.

17. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. If you do not agree, stop using the site and request deletion.

18. Severability and governing law

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in force. These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the site operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without limiting any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
